Job Description:
School Professionals - Responsible for assisting our client
teacher(s) in providing a wellorganized, smoothly functioning
educational environment in which students with cognitive, physical,
communication and emotional disabilities can take full advantage of
the instructional program and available resources, under the direct
supervision of a Highly Qualified Teacher.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The following statements are intended to describe the general
nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to
this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as
an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of
those in this position.
1.Assist students while the teacherdirects the whole group, small
group, and individualized instruction.
2.Monitor and support students during independent work or
cooperative learning activities.
3.Provide followup and review after teacherdirected
instruction.
4.Support students' instructional programs through the preparation
of educational materials and perform clerical tasks associated
with instructional activities.
5.Aid with supervision of students in specific school settings
(e.g., playground, lunchroom, and
media center).
6.Assist in implementing the goals and objectives of the students'
Individual Educational Plans(IEP).
7.Provide support in developing/maintaining students' daily living
needs, such as toilet needs,lifting, diapering, feeding and
personal hygiene, transferring,positioning, and ambulation as
necessary.
8.Provide assistance with management of chronic health conditions
by monitoring student health status and administering procedures as
indicated in the student's IEP of individual health plan.
9.Assist with the arrival, departure, and transportation of
students.
10.Ride the bus and assist with loading and unloading of students
at home and school, monitor - health status of students and/or
assist with monitoring student behavior using positive behavior
supports, as needed.
11.Assist in classroom/student management, assist teachers in
observing, recording, and maintaining data about student
performance and behavior and health status, and intervene with
Districtapproved Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI),
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), first aid, medication, and
childspecific procedures when indicated and appropriately
trained.
12.Assist with monitoring student behavior using positive
behavior
resources.
13.Provide, under the supervision of the teachers,
accommodations/modifications and related
services as documented in the student's IEP.
14.Implement the District's philosophy of education and
instructional program in accordance with District policies and
administrative guidelines, Florida Department of Education
requirements, and provisions of State and Federal law.
15. Serve as a resource by supporting the teacher's efforts to
organize and coordinate the instructional program for students with
disabilities and perform additional support duties as delegated by
the principal or his/her designee.
16.Provide assistance with positioning students in standers,
walkers, wheelchairs throughout the
day.
17.Escort students to and from classes or specialized functions as
needed.
18.Maintain confidentiality and follow District policies and
procedures concerning education, health, safety, personal
information, and the wellbeing of students.
19.Demonstrate dependability, integrity, and respect for individual
differences.
20.Maintain required certifications by participating in workshops
and inservice training sessions as
required.
21.Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge,
skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the
incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing,
and mathematics readiness, as appropriate
2.Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word
processing, spreadsheets, databases, and webbased technologies and
platforms
3.Exhibit positive, effective interpersonal communication
skills
4.Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups
to consensus
5.Ability to collect, summarize, and analyze data
6.Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of
audiences,orally and in writing, including electronic media
7.Excellent time management skills and ability to organize,
prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and
within established time frames
8.Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working
relationships with all stakeholders

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: -
Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of
Education, or related field OR 60 hours of college/university
course work OR Obtain qualifying score to pass the ParaPro
Assessment
-
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATION:
Satisfactory completion required within 6month period of the
following training and/or certification provided by the
District:
-Pediatric First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated
External Defibrillator (AED)
First Aid -
Medication administration -
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) -
In addition, CPR and First Aid training must be completed every two
years and CPI training need to be kept current and renewed on an
annual basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of
Education, or related field -
Experience in like position or with students with disabilities
Training in behavior disorders and appropriate interventions
