Job Description:

This position is in the Aircraft Integration and Certification engineering group working primarily on the systems activities required by the FAA for avionics equipment. As a Systems Engineer this position works closely with all areas of the engineering organization to understand the design and detailed operation of avionics equipment, as well as the interfaces required for the avionics to operate on a variety of aircraft types. Generating design data such as aircraft wiring and installation drawings will be a part of the activities associated with this position, as will generating substantiation data for complying with FAA regulations. Working with the engineering and manufacturing areas to ensure all aspects of the design and production of the avionics meet FAA regulations will also be a part of the role.

Essential Functions:

• Working with engineering and operations on the design, manufacturing, and repair operations to ensuring meeting FAA regulations.
• Being able to understand aviation regulations and how to comply with them.
• Analyzing avionics system operation and equipment interface requirements to fully understand the black box aircraft installation requirements. Qualifications:
  • Requires practical knowledge of avionics typically obtained through education combined with experience working with avionics.
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. Preferred Additional Skills:
    • Experience working with the FAA and foreign regulatory agencies is highly desirable.
    • Cognizance of the functionality of avionics similar to that manufactured by L3Harris CAS as installed and operated on aircraft is highly preferred.
    • A general familiarity with the engineering avionics development, manufacturing, and repair environments is highly desirable.
    • The ability to create aircraft wiring diagrams required to install or modify avionics systems for a variety of commercial aircraft types is desired.
    • Proficiency in MS Office tools such as MSWord and Excel are highly desirable.
    • The ability to interact effectively with diverse organizations within a company (e.g., Operations, Sales, Quality).
    • Must be a self-motivated individual with good interpersonal skills and who can work in a multi-tasking environment with both internal and external customers with minimal direction.
