employee morale and safety. -Position Overview -The Pipe Laborer
supports a pipe-laying crew for large-scale projects with an
emphasis on underground construction throughout Florida. This
position is familiar with preparation, methodology, tools, and
safety related to the placement of pipes for underground utilities
for a variety of projects including municipal projects. We are
currently seeking Pipe Laborer to support our Melbourne and Tampa
project locations. Regional travel will be required. The Pipe
Laborer reports to the Construction Manager. -Duties &
Responsibilities
Load, unload, and identify
underground materials, machinery, or tools and distribute to the
appropriate locations, according to project plans or
specificationsDig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or
compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks,
shovels, pneumatic tampers, rakes, etc.Erect or dismantle shoring,
braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary
structuresAssist other workers, supervisors, and operating
foremenPour concrete, use of tools including saws, hammers, nails,
bolts, etc.Promotes a 'safety first' attitude and ensures strict
adherence to safety requirements and procedures -Other projects or
duties as assigned -Requirements
Knowledge of materials, methods, and
tools involved in the construction or repair of underground
utilities and other structures including water mains, gravity
sewer, storm sewer, reclaim water main and force main1 year
experience in the construction industry, preferably operating
construction equipmentPipe laying, underground utility, and/or
heavy equipment operation experience requiredMust be able to work
some weekends and evenings when neededRegional travel requiredHigh
School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferredValid
driver's license required; class A driver's license preferred

Must have physical strength, balance,
hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in
various areasMust be able to perform physical activities that
require considerable and sustained use of your arms, legs, and
moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing,
walking, stooping, sitting standing, and handling of materials up
to 75lbsMust be able to work in a non-climate-controlled
environment, work in inclement weather, stand, and drive for
extended periods of timeMust be able to wear required personal
protective equipment - Y-COM is a drug-free workplace. All new
