Job Description:
Description:Are you currently working in the healthcare industry
or medical field and need a change of pace? Are you a stay-at-home
parent wanting to go back to work? Or are you a college student or
recent college graduate looking to get your start in a related
field? Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County has an IMMEDIATE need
for Youth Child Care Worker in Spring Hill and Brooksville who are
willing to make a difference during our Summer Camp and school year
programming!
Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County (BGCHC) provides fun,
engaging, and educational summer camp and before-and-after school
programming within 9 local public schools. Our Youth Child Care
Workers, or Youth Development Professionals as we call them, are
encouraged to not only lead the programs, but to participate.
There's no standing around watching your members play kickball;
you're the pitcher!__________
During Summer Camp, you greet each and every one of the 20-25
members in your group with enthusiasm for the day. Your group
focuses all of their attention to you as you LEAD them through the
engaging activities listed on the pre-made lesson plan. This year's
summer camp theme is "Around the World" and each week has
activities based around a different country. You'll show your
creative side while assisting members with art projects, get some
energy out while playing Double Dare or field games and use your
brain for STEM projects.
Now, here's the best part: weekly FIELD TRIPS! You can enjoy the
air conditioning at the skating rink, bowling alley or movie
theater or get up close to the wildlife at Homosassa Park or the
Florida Aquarium.
Aside from the fun stuff, you will write incident/accident reports
and guidance notices to go home to the parents/guardians. You clean
up messes. You perform first aid. You take attendance. Most
importantly, you prioritize SAFETY. __________
During the school year, in your entry-level job as a School-Age
Group Leader, you are the first adult a child interacts with during
their school day. You greet each and every one with enthusiasm for
the day ahead and take attendance. Your group of 20-25 members
focuses all of their attention to you as you lead them through the
activities listed on the lesson plan you'll create, following our
schedule and world-class programs. You may turn a potato into a
light bulb during STEM or recreate a Van Gogh painting in Art
History. When the bell rings, you send them to their respective
classrooms and clean up the program area. Then you are free to
clock out, or possibly help cover teachers' breaks in one of our
five preschools.
In the afternoon, Youth Development Professionals set out equipment
and get supplies ready for even more fun. You, once again, greet
every child with a smile and talk to them about their day. It can't
all be sunshine and rainbows, though, and you will have to write
incident/accident reports and guidance notices to go home to the
parents/guardians. You help them with homework and lead educational
games during Power Hour and play Freeze Tag during Triple
Play-Healthy Habits. Every child is served dinner and you ensure
there is no mess left behind. After your members are all picked up,
you clean up and prepare for the next day of fun and exciting
programming.Requirements:
