Delivers advanced professional and technical nursing care to
pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients admitted to the
Intermediate Care Unit with real or potential life threatening
illnesses. Interacts and collaborates with staff, physicians, and
patients regarding our programs for the reduction of Hospital
Acquired Conditions (HACs) and Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs).
Actively engages in all initiatives to improve patient satisfaction
results. Monitors, interprets and intervenes on patients
experiencing cardia arrhythmia, working under the direction of, and
in collaboration with the medical staff. Performs nursing
techniques for the comfort and well being of the patient. Nursing
care delivered complies with the objectives and policies of the
hospital utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning,
implementation, and evaluation. Prepares equipment and assists
physicians during treatments and examinations of patients.
Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide
age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit
specific standards. Assists in planning, supervising, and
instructing Licensed Practical Nurses and Nursing Assistants
thereby providing nursing care to a number of patients. May be
needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty or in another
patient care unit as assigned by department head or nursing
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications,
education and job knowledge/experience):
- Minimum Education: Associate/Diploma/Bachelor's degree in
Nursing that leads to licensure.
- Preferred Experience: Recent acute care medical/surgical
nursing experience within the past two years.
- Required Certification/Registration: Current Florida RN
License; BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective oral and written
communication skills in the English language. Visual and hearing
senses must be adequate to assess/detect changes in human
physiological condition. Ability to perform effectively in fast
paced, stressful environment.
