HERNANDO COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICEAL NIENHUIS, SHERIFFPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Property Technician will be responsible for the orderly, secure and efficient operations of the property room and is responsible for ensuring the property section complies with all policies and procedures of the agency.The Property Technician reports directly to the designated Booking Sergeant as needed.SPECIFIC DUTIESThe Property Technicians responsibilities are:Day-to-Day DutiesEnsure that all duties and day-to-day operations are performed in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Hernando County Detention Center.Oversee the handling of inmate property.Ensure all inmate property is processed and stored in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Hernando County Detention Center.Coordinate with all agency members and other criminal justice and law enforcement agencies on inmate property issues.Carry out instructions in a professional manner, exercising courtesy, tact and patience in all interactions with inmates, staff and the public.Accept, answer and resolve inmate requests, in accordance with policy and procedure.Complete Forms/Reports/LogsMaintain logs and ensure their accuracy and completeness in the Jail Management System (JMS).Other Administrative DutiesOrder all necessary supplies for the property room.Enter authorized property into Keefe computer.Respond to grievances pertaining to Property Technicians responsibilities.Ensure the monthly inspection is completed on property room.Gather secondary accreditation documentation and track assigned outcome measures and forward to the designated Booking Sergeant.Collect, organize and prepare all needed documentation from Bail Bondsman for documentation registration and accuracy.Update and electronically distribute the bondsmans list accordingly.Perform additional duties as directed by higher authority.QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma, GED or equivalent supplemented by two years of responsible clerical experience, law enforcement related field preferred.Knowledge of general office practices and proceduresAbility to work quickly and accurately without constant supervisionKnowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmeticAbility to handle confidential matters without compromising confidentialityAbility to operate standard office equipment such as typewriter, copy machine and computer terminalEssential Physical SkillsAbility to communicate orallyAbility to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.Ability to sit or stand for long periods of timeAbility to walk unassisted
