You Will Be Responsible For:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Demonstrates, through behavior, AdventHealth core values of

assessments in accordance with department policy. - Performs venous
access related procedures within the scope of practice of the RN
licensure. - Functions appropriately in Code Blue and other
clinical emergencies. Evaluates effectiveness of interventions.
Interprets and verifies physician orders, investigates questionable
situations. Demonstrates continuous competency in the specific
procedures related to venous access and infusion therapy. -
Provides expert resourcing to staff nurses and other departments as
Obtains patient assessment, evaluating diagnosis, previous medical
history, existing infusion related complications, and ordered
therapy as relates to current venous access consult. - Demonstrates
the ability to assess and interpret data relative to patients' age
and infusion therapy and venous access needs.
Identifies individualized plan of care based on patients' needs
related to both infusion therapy and the venous access consult and
intervenes appropriately. - Evaluates patients' developmental
level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs and
evaluates availability of support system consistent with

of the venous access specialty.

improvement activities. - Demonstrates accurate documentation and

Communicates with Department Supervisor, Clinical Specialist, or
Educator as needed to enhance excellence in the delivery of patient
Follows CDC guidelines for sterile technique and isolation,
demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs handwashing according
to policy and enforces safety regulations.
Manages and intervenes appropriately for the patient with current
venous access issues, including but not limited to: prioritization,
appropriate venous access choice for age, therapy, and any current
complication's impact on the needs for IV therapy.
Under general supervision the Venous Access RN is a registered
professional nurse with leadership skills certified as a Vascular
Access Specialist who is responsible for supervising and providing
direct and indirect vascular access care to assigned age groups as
identified in the position responsibilities. - Adheres to the
AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and
regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and
accrediting bodies. Utilizing the hospital performance improvement
process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate) in the goals of the
Venous Access Services Department. - Actively participates in
outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in
maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Demonstrates leadership skills and continuous competency in the
specific procedures related to venous access and infusion therapy.
Directs and provides supervision of patient venous access care
activities of staff on shift basis ensuring staff is delegated
tasks appropriate to their scope of practice, skill and the
patients' needs. - Provides and supervises others in providing
expert resourcing to staff nurses and other departments as
consulted. Encourages staff participation in cost containment
activities. - Appropriate use and charging of patient charges and
Supports Supervisor, Clinical Specialist, Educator, other Charge
Nurses and Staff in promoting a harmonious practice setting that
fosters collegial relations, professional development, creativity
and a safe environment. - Is readily available to personnel on
assigned shift for expressions of concern. - Provides stability, is

Prioritizes work load and triages assignments to VAS Team as work
load dictates to meet patient needs.
Has thorough knowledge of Policies & Procedures and follows
AdventHealth' s Policies & Procedures and CDC guidelines for
sterile technique and isolation.
Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring; Identifies
dysrhythmias and treats appropriately based upon ACLS protocol.
Able to perform head to toe assessments on all patients and
reassessments as per policy.
Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. - Utilizes
appropriate pain management techniques. - Educates the patient and
family regarding pain management.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that
optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of
Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on
age of the patient and their clinical condition.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Peripheral Intravenous Access Validation
Basic computer knowledge
Strong written and verbal skills
Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Three months or more of experience in nursing care with prior
medical experience (i.e. paramedic, licensed practical nursing)

Previous Stress Lab experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Current registration with Florida State Board of Nursing as a
