Job Summary
The Purchasing Agent/InventoryController is responsible for
procuring merchandise for resale, and forinventory management.
He/She enthusiastically negotiates with vendors to obtain the
bestpricing, delivery and terms of purchase ensuring optimal order
fill rates and customer satisfaction

Job Duties
---Analyze product on hand and projected product sales.
---Create vendor Purchase Orders to maintain right product mix,
optimum shelf quantities,and satisfy projected product sales.
---Monitor vendor shipments and receipt of merchandise to ensure
that they are withinacceptable parameters established by the Profit
Center Manager.
---Meet or exceed the Profit Center targets for fill rate/service
levels, annual inventory turns of and slow-moving/devalued
inventory levels
---Perform daily cycle counts, research and resolve all inventory
discrepancies.
---Negotiate with and maintain successful relationships with
suppliers/vendors.
---Perform required file maintenance to products, price and buy
matrices; communicate withProduct File Administrator as
necessary.
---Monitor merchandise returns to ensure timeliness and credit
accuracy.
---Maintain market intelligence and report changes in pricing
levels and potential problemareas or conditions that could
adversely affect the Company's procurementposition.
---Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate
supervisor and othermanagement as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
---Able to analyze sales and procurement data, and understand
market trends to make thebest purchasing decisions.
---Possesses excellent verbal communication and negotiation
skills.
---Able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with
vendors, customersand co-workers.
---Energetic, self-motivated and able to work independently.
---Able to learn and operate (keyboard and mouse) the applicable
software system(Eclipse, Mincron) used to create, process and
monitor purchase orders, and to producereports for analysis.
---Read, write, speak and understand English.
---Add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common
fractions, anddecimals.
Education, Training, Experience
---High school diploma or equivalent
---1+ years purchasing and inventory control experience, wholesale
distributionexperience preferred
---Knowledge of products sold in the Profit Center preferred
---Use Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel) to
communicate via email, tomaintain vendor contact files, appointment
calendar and to analyze vendor purchasesand sales data

Environmental Conditions
The incumbent is exposed to the following conditions in the
job:
Warehouses with no climate control, potentially hazardous equipment
(such as forklift trucks, mechanical lift gates, hand tools, manual
material handling equipment, ladders, and rubber retention straps).
The Profit Center may stock, sell and use hazardous materials - PVC
pipe cement, pool chemicals, torch gas, propane gas, solvents, etc.
You may be required tohandle these materials.
