The Intermediate Tax Analyst role is responsible for in-scope processes related to one or multiple Citi lines of business within the centralized Tax Information Reporting function in FRSS. This position supports the reduction/elimination of Citi's franchise & regulatory risk through accurate and timely reporting and enhanced due diligence on customer accounts.

The incumbent will support Citi businesses and is expected to develop and enhance their product knowledge within a short timeframe. In addition, the incumbent may be expected to migrate information reporting functions from various businesses into FRSS; this process includes training and job shadowing, building documentation such as procedures and process flows, and identifying gaps in the process based on IRS regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Execute functions from the Tax Information Reporting process tree including, but not limited to, tax form validation, withholding, information reporting, legal entity maintenance, and governance
• Act as a tax information reporting specialist to execute operational and project initiatives
• Act as an internally and externally recognized subject matter expert
• Develop best practices and implement appropriate procedures and controls to ensure consistent compliance with Information Reporting, FATCA, and/or CRS requirements
• Support FRSS' Service Delivery model with all stakeholders
• Identify and participate in process re-engineering and re-design activities to achieve better controls, compliance, and efficiencies
• Support audits by tax authorities and Internal Audit
• Support Technology projects from a tax technical perspective
• Contribute towards departmental requirement to adhere to strict regulatory and compliance requirements per tax authority and Citi policy
• Perform reviews of written tax policy and procedures, research and respond to inquiries from operational areas Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in experience
  • 5-+ years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of U.S. tax information reporting requirements applicable to various Citi products
  • Understanding of U.S. tax information reporting rules applicable to U.S. Persons and non-U.S. Persons
  • Well versed in standard desktop technology with advanced Excel skills
  • Strong technical aptitude with knowledge of digital desktop technologies like Python and Power BI
  • Understanding and working knowledge of IRS Forms W-9 and W-8 and their associated requirements; Forms 1098, 1099 series, and 1042-S; Forms 945 and 1042
  • Knowledge of Income Sourcing rules
  • Excellent communication skills to drive engagement and close interactions with key stakeholders. Provide basic advisory services primarily for internal clients
  • Ability to examine processes and procedures, experience with Process Re-engineering. Re-design and Process Automation experience is preferred
  • Ability to act as a change agent for organizational and product transformational initiatives
  • Project Management experience preferred and strong organizational skills required
